Iloilo Mission Hospital Launches the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses

Celebrating compassion and nursing excellence as IMH marks 125 years of service.

As Iloilo Mission Hospital (IMH) celebrates its 125th anniversary, it has reached another meaningful milestone with the formal launch of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, an internationally recognized program honoring nurses who make an exceptional difference in the lives of their patients and families.

The DAISY Award recognizes something nurses understand well: excellent nursing care goes beyond clinical skills. Sometimes, it's the nurse who stays a few extra minutes with a frightened patient, comforts an anxious family, or offers kindness during an especially difficult day who makes the greatest difference.

These everyday acts of compassion often go unnoticed. The DAISY Award gives patients, families, and colleagues an opportunity to share those stories and recognize the nurses behind them.

Community and Alumni Support

The launch was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Troi Oi Vietnamese Restaurant, whose support reflects a genuine appreciation for the nursing profession and the people who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Geoffrey Leysa and Dr. Jonathan Anotado Gapilango, both Founding Directors of the CPUCN Legacy Circle, whose efforts helped bring the DAISY Award program to Iloilo Mission Hospital.

Together with the leadership of IMH, this collaboration demonstrates what can happen when individuals, businesses, and alumni come together for a shared purpose.

For the Legacy Circle, supporting initiatives like this reflects its commitment to giving back to the institutions that helped shape generations of Centralian nurses.

Recognizing the Nurses Behind the Care

Through the DAISY Award program, patients, families, and colleagues can nominate nurses whose care has made a lasting impression.

Each nomination is an opportunity to tell a story that might otherwise remain untold. And for nurses who rarely expect recognition for simply doing their jobs, those stories can mean a great deal.

As IMH enters its next chapter after 125 years of healing and service, the introduction of the DAISY Award is a fitting tribute to the nurses who continue that tradition every day.
